December is oral care month. This December, NEW Health is specifically focusing on Child Dental Care!

Cavities are the most common chronic disease in children in the U.S.

Cavities can cause pain and infections that can lead to problems with eating, speaking, playing, and learning. Children who have poor oral health often miss more school and receive lower grades.

Brushing your children’s teeth twice a day is very important. Caregivers should help children brush their teeth until they have good brushing skills.

There are a few different risk factors for cavities in children. If any of these risk factors apply to your child, be sure to talk with your dentist, pediatrician, or family doctor to make sure you are taking the necessary steps to protect your child’s teeth.
