Springdale Health Association continues to support their vision of providing healthcare in their local community by generously donating its building to NEW Health. The Springdale Health Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and NEW Health is a private non-profit 501(c)(3), Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). NEW Health was incorporated in 1978, NEW Health Springdale Medical Clinic opened shortly after the health center was incorporated. NEW Health and the Springdale Health Association have had a long-standing partnership to ensure that Springdale and the surrounding communities have access to medical care.
The Springdale Health Association was incorporated in 1978 by citizens of the Springdale community that had a vision that local healthcare be available to their community. The original founding members were Pat & Harold Fitch, Frank & Mary Moore, Gloria Forsyth and Janet Buche. In order to secure a location for the original clinic building, a Walk-A-Thon from Springdale to Chewelah was held to raise funding. The remainder of the funding was donated from the Town of Springdale, who purchased the single wide building and later sold it to The Springdale Health Association. The original building was located at 105 N Second St on the property owned by Tom and Janet Buche. The initial rent was $1.00/year and increased just after 2008. The original medical clinic was located where the current NEW Health-Springdale Dental Clinic building is located today.
With the healthcare needs of the community growing, the health association recognized the need for a new building. A double wide was ordered to replace the single wide to allow for expansion, but the building wasn’t utilized as it failed inspection. Changing directions, the Springdale Health Association purchased the building that the Springdale NEW Health Medical Clinic is located in today. The current building was previously a saw shop that served Springdale residents. It had been vacant and made a good location for the new medical clinic.
In 2010, NEW Health was awarded funding from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) for the renovations for the Springdale Medical clinic. This renovation added a procedure room, exam rooms, a full patient waiting room, restroom and employee breakroom. This expansion allowed NEW Health to expand its services to the residents of Springdale.
General succession planning discussions between Springdale Health Association and NEW Health management began in the summer of 2019. These discussions were the foundation for continued delivery of services to the community and the donation of the building. On November 15, 2019, the donation of the building was finalized. It is with great appreciation to the Springdale Health Association and their board of directors in trusting their community to NEW Health.
NEW Health thanks Springdale Health Association for the donation of the building and for all the work they have done to ensure healthcare for the Springdale community.
100% of the proceeds of your donations stay at NEW Health to help us continue to provide healthcare services to residents of our communities.
