Great Place To Work, 2025, Great

July 24, 2025

NEW Health proudly announces its official Certification™ as a Great Place To Work® for 2025. This national recognition is based entirely on feedback from employees about their experience working at NEW Health—and this year’s results were exceptional. The vast majority of staff said they believe NEW Health is a truly great place to work, ranking the organization well above the national average.

“Being recognized as a Great Place to Work reflects the culture we’ve built together—one grounded in trust, respect, and shared purpose,” said Desiree Sweeney, CEO of NEW Health. “Our people are the heart of this organization, and this certification confirms what we already knew: that NEW Health is not just a place to work, but a place to grow, to serve, and to belong.”

Great Place To Work® is a global leader in assessing workplace culture, employee satisfaction, and leadership practices proven to support long-term success.

“Great Place to Work Certification™ is a highly coveted achievement that requires consistent and intentional dedication to the overall employee experience,” said Sarah Lewis-Kulin, Vice President of Global Recognition at Great Place to Work. “By successfully earning this recognition, it’s clear that NEW Health stands out as one of the top healthcare employers in the region.”

This milestone comes as NEW Health deepens its investment in its workforce. The organization recently applied for $10.85 million in federal funding to establish a Regional Workforce Development Center in Chewelah, WA. The proposal includes $5.8 million in Congressionally Directed Spending, championed by Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, and $5.05 million from the Washington State Capital Budget. These funds will help expand access to care while building a pipeline of skilled professionals from within the community.

As the only Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving Stevens, Pend Oreille, and Ferry counties, NEW Health remains deeply committed to developing and supporting the rural healthcare workforce. The organization has received national recognition for its innovation in workforce development. Including being named one of the Best Places to Work in the Inland Northwest (2023) and a Top 5 Youth Workforce Program by the National Association of Community Health Centers.

National leaders have also spotlighted NEW Health’s efforts. In 2023, U.S. Congressional hearing remarks highlighted NEW Health’s workforce innovation, and several agencies—including ECRI, the Washington State Department of Health, and the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved—featured NEW Health in best practice guidance.

A key driver of this success is the organization’s focus on nurturing local talent. Programs like Bridging the Gap help community members train for meaningful healthcare careers close to home.

“Our staff makes it possible for us to offer wages up to 30% higher than regional averages,” said Sweeney. “This isn’t just a win for NEW Health—it’s a win for the communities we serve.”

With clinics across Northeast Washington offering medical, dental, pharmacy, and behavioral health services, NEW Health continues to put people first—whether it’s through expanding care, training the next generation of professionals, or celebrating the employees behind every patient interaction.
