October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

NEW Health’s Kelly Witte, PA-C, discusses the importance of mammograms and wellness exams in the following video.

Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms.

You do not need a doctors referral to schedule a screening mammogram. Contact an imaging center near you to self schedule. If you have questions on when you should start screening mammograms or how often you should one, please discuss with your primary care physician. While you are at it, now is a great time to schedule your annual wellness exam too. Call us today! 509-935-6004

At NEW Health, we are committed to promoting health and wellness within our communities by providing integrated, open-access healthcare for all.
